History of ‘Brotherhood’
afew years after the founding of the al-jazeera satellite tv channel in 1996, and before becoming a defender of the international muslim brotherhood organization, the channel had broadcast a documentary on the dark side of the organization — the long history of assassinations allegedly carried out by this organization, particularly in 1948, before this organization spread its tentacles all over the world. the film producer relied on live interviews with some of those involved in the assassinations, including its leader mahmoud al-sabbagh. the founder of the organization, hassan al-banna, had a tendency to form disciplined military battalions similar to what was done by hitler and franco and the lebanese politician pierre gemayel. the concrete evidence of this is the slogan adopted by hassan al-banna and his strong belief in the use of violence to achieve the goals of the organization. its logo which carries a sword says it all that difficulties cannot be overcome by decisions but deeds. the group resorted to violence as an inevitable means because of the nature of the religious organization, the need to prove its existence, possessing money and weapons to achieve its objectives by all means even if it meant through violence, and as a result the security authorities had no option but to resist it the same way. the organization then decided to form a secret and armed group to protect it and to eliminate enemies. this establishment of this secret weapon was personally approved by hassan al-banna through a law called the ‘formation law’ in the presence by abdulrahman al-sirri and members mustafa mashhour, mahmoud al-sabbagh, ahmad hussein and fat’hi as members. the organization began its first ‘good’ work by bombing police stations when the authorities suppressed its demonstrations. on march 22, 1948 the organization assassinated al-khazandar, the president of the appeals court, which had earlier sentenced the organization’s men to life imprisonment. later, during a traffic accident a bag containing documents of plots hatched by the muslim brotherhood was found and the then prime minister and minister of interior mahmoud al-nuqrashi issued a decision to dissolve the organization and this resulted in his assassination in december 1948. this was followed by several acts of violence. the security authorities retaliated and assassinated hassan al-banna in february the following year (1949). this black history of the muslim brotherhood and the crimes committed by the group before, during and after coming to power in egypt a few years ago shows this organization is not trustworthy. it is not a political party which can be developed and merged in society. it is a network of terrorist organizations which has its presence in dozens of countries and hundreds of companies worth ‘billions’. i cannot think of any similar organization in the world. it is the only religious and political organization that has historically managed to spread its roots in all arab, muslim and western countries without exception. its investments are huge and a very complex central command. this may or may not have been the reason for the inability or desire of many governments, including ours, to restrain and control it. it has been effective at the local level in any government and despite its temporary regional weakness has finally publicly demanded a vital portfolio in the next government. do those who work to promote faith need the ministry of finance or interior, for example? the link to al-jazeera documentary is http://www.albayan.ae/ one-world/arabs/2017-06-10-1.2972961
