National unity day ... ray of hope
i would like to read between the lines, to myself at least, to continue my dream! the sadness of the patriots and loyalists of our people — the people who love us and those who love and appreciate art — over the death of the late actor abdulhussain abdulreda was great. this means that abdulhussain has an outstanding place as a human being in the hearts and minds of many of us. he will have a greater place if we can take advantage of this historic opportunity to achieve two major dreams. reading between lines showed that the reason behind all this sadness and expression of sorrow over the death of the deceased, who had a high place in our hearts, was in the most part pure towards the man and his path and heritage. the other smaller and much lesser part was a reaction, at least locally, to all the abhorrent and sectarian polarization that we experienced in the last few weeks — the polarization that has divided our good and small society into even smaller pieces with more hatred and hostility towards one another. abdulhussain entertained and amused us throughout his life. we must make his death a starting point for achieving national unity, which was being promoted and worked on by the deceased on the solid basis of the application of the law of national unity on those who violate the clauses of this law, and to resist any defi ant or hateful without mercy. the other thing is to make kuwait different from all other countries in the region! we are really distinguished through many ways but this distinction is almost lost. therefore, it must be maintained and developed. we are proud of our leadership, our diversity, our freedoms, all our creative people, our generosity, our humanity, our assistance to the dozens of countries around the world, our parliament, the opera house, the seif palace, our journalism and our unity in weal and woe. we do not ask for much when we demand that the law must be applied on all. nothing else can stop us from continuing our distinction, and making us truly unique. will the demise of the creative artiste abdulhussain abdulredha succeed in pushing us to naming the day of his departure as the “national unity day” such that we celebrate this day on august 12th of every year? dear high sir! we are all concerned by this, but it is only you who can put these two dreams on the road towards realization.
