Charge of ‘crude’ brigade

before the era of social media, the intellectual and mental damages were limited to very few people. however, soon the thrill of sending jokes and nonsensical messages began to spread throughout the world through the use of applications such as whatsapp and others. the world was flooded with silly and miserable messages. most of these messages are irrelevant while some rare ones are useful, as they did not distort the thought or instill doubts and suspicions in the minds over the content or the objective of the sender. like many others, i learnt a lot from social media, smiled after reading several messages, cried when reading some others, and became angry and frustrated over some others. however, in time, these messages became a source of exhaustion, and waste of valuable time especially when spent downloading messages and videos and then watching them only to discover in the end that they are silly with malicious, absurd and misleading purposes or are merely aimed at harming one party for the benefit of another. this is the result of entry of governments, organizations and companies with improper targets on the line and that hire thousands of bloggers or activists on social media to send specific messages with suspicious objectives either to support a view at the expense of another or promote negative aspects about certain ideas, goods and services. we also discovered recently that, in light of the recent gulf crisis, there are thousands working for each party to defend their point of view, eventually resulting in a “cold war” in an immoral manner, the content of which we cannot mention. the messages sent through social media have become weapons in the hands of terrorist organizations for marketing their ideas, recruiting young people by luring them to join and sacrificing them by all possible means for achieving the interests of the organizations. in a relatively short time, all of us have drowned in the ocean of superstitions and subversive ideas, and have become victims of political, religious, sectarian, terrorist, financial and economic goals that cannot be counted. this is what is happening to those who believe they know something about what is going on around them including the ignorant and semi-educated that constitute the most among us and in our groups. i think my advice, for either myself or others, will not find a full response, or even half of it, in the midst of the flood of messages and the curiosity to know the truth and about what is coming to us. therefore, it is better to request for reducing the number of messages we send and watch, and, most importantly, brushing away suspicions and resorting to reason and logic to judge and ascertain the messages and videos we receive. we should not believe anything and we should not rush in resending anything without confirming its certainty and usefulness. no one will give the sender an award for the amount of messages or videos he sends, but he will certainly be blamed if his messages are misleading, silly or inaccurate. all this reveals a ridiculous irony. we used to look down at majority of participants in groups who do not share or send anything but are just satisfied in receiving messages. we now can say that they are more right than others; at least they did not contribute to the silly dissemination of messages like many of us do on a daily basis.
