Minister with a good cause

mrs hind al-sabeeh is one of the best in the position of minister of social affairs and labor, in terms of personal strength and dedication to work, and the best example of this is her recent decisions to refer the boards of directors of such a large number of cooperative societies to the public prosecution and the department of investigations on charges of fi nancial and administrative corruption. this decision cannot be passed without a great deal of respect and appreciation. a minister of this weight, and this sincerity in the work, cannot accept to be among the staff directly assisting her, or who manage the public affairs, other than people with the same effi ciency, especially persons such as hassan kazem, ahmad mohammad osman al-mousa, and majed alsaleh from the public authority for disabled affairs, and i am sorry for not mentioning the names of the rest because i do not know them in person or their jobs, who need to be praised for their sincerity, from time to time! on the other hand, the ministry of social affairs and labor has placed strict controls on the licenses of voluntary teams, which collect donations on behalf of the charity societies. the reason for this is due to the violation, of course, which these fundraising teams commit year after year, especially what happens during the month of ramadan, which subsequently happens during every ramadan, rajab, rabea and shaaban. t h e s o u r c e s also revealed that the ministry intends to write off 33 donation coll e c t i n g teams, because of the irregularities they commit and lack of cooperation, and its refusal to provide any tangible services to the community. here we want to whisper, in written words, in the ear of ministry offi cials that the violations will continue, as long as the offi cials in these teams share not less than 20 percent of what they collect, and therefore naturally make great efforts to collect big sums of money for their associations, violate the law and ignore all instructions issued by the ministry. the commissions they get from their positions and the easy access to donations, especially during religious events, deserves all the troubles they might encounter and violations they commit. therefore, the ministry of social affairs and labor has no choice but to prevent charity societies from deducting a percentage of the donations collected by them. in this regard, the charity societies, when they were allowed to collect donations in cash, used to inform the ministry how much they had collected, for example, 18 million dinars in 2015, but when the ministry blocked cash donations and forced donors to pay through the knet or bank transfers, donations in the following years more than doubled! this means that more than half of what the charity societies have been collecting, went to unknown banks, and you will have to calculate the money went to these banks for over 40 years! a fi nal note, we wish mrs. hind al-sabeeh will not to bow to pressure on the issue of referring the boards of cooperative societies to the prosecution and will continue in her position.
