‘Strength lies in solidarity, unity’

the third law of isaac newton, the greatest scientist known to mankind, says that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. if a person jumped from a small boat to a pier, the force of the jump would equal the force of the boat rebounding back from the pier. what is happening in kuwait, since shortly after liberation, between the communities of society, is applicable to newton’s law. the more extreme one sect is, the more extreme the other with equal amount in the opposite all at the expense of the unity of the homeland and the cohesion of its components. when the security forces considered foreigners three shiite clerics who had been invited to kuwait by some individuals to give lectures as persona non grata and asked them to leave, a large number of people objected to the decision considering it an offence to them. nevertheless, the protestors remained silent when the authorities prevented the clerics belonging to the other sector from entering kuwait not to give rise to sectarian tensions which were unnecessary. i write this on the occasion of what we have seen from religious celebrations in many neighborhoods and regions, which we did not know in the past, and all this race in the establishment of religious rites, and insistence on them from this party, and sometimes from the ‘representatives’ of the other party which are pure exaggerations that have exceeded all limits of the event. the aim was rather to agitate the other sect and the unnecessary attempts to prove that are still there. the commemoration a sad religious occasion, with all the participants weeping a n d mourning, must not turn into a demons t r a t i o n against the other, and the other side should not be seen with all that hostility, even if it is thought to be beyond the reach of its religious understanding. this must be natural. the entire world is different from us in every thought and belief, and therefore we cannot do it for the sake of doing it, otherwise we will die of hunger and oppression! it was agitating to read the tweet posted on the social media by someone who is fond of evoking sectarian and tribal prejudices on the tenth of muharram where he congratulated the muslims on the advent of muharram, recognizing how ridiculous his action was, he tried to correct it by saying he intended to congratulate the muslims on the advent of the new hijri year although the tweet was posted ten days after the beginning of the year. thus, it would not be surprising to see the repercussions of such foolish acts, or ‘hatreds’ (of hatred) and others, in the manifestations of more counter-sectarian extremism, and the corresponding reaction of the other party. shiite extremism from some in the majority came as a response to sunni extremism from others, and vice versa of course. the sunni extremism and excesses against the other were essentially a reaction that began with the intensification of war, military and sectarian, between iraq and iran. therefore, all of us, or the rest of the rational people among us, should seek to alleviate all this sectarian animosity. our strength lies in our union and our solidarity, and our situation cannot bear all this hatred. the government has to prevent exaggerated manifestations of the parties, and remove slogans, flags and religious paintings on homes and private buildings, and activate the laws of accountability to promote sectarian strife, and prevent the entry of clerics, on any occasion regardless of their sect. what we are in need of is qualified medical doctors and engineers not religious clerics, we have enough.
