yusuf al-qaradawi was born in egypt in 1926 and joined the muslim brotherhood organization at an early age. when mohammad morsi came to power in egypt, he described the egyptian members of the brotherhood group as the most intelligent and thoughtful. al-qaradawi became president of the world muslim league but was relieved of his post after he was labeled as terrorist by egypt, saudi arabia, the uae and bahrain. al-qaradawi is now president of the world union of muslim scholars, a union that has nothing to do with scientific researches, discoveries or inventions. it is a club of elite clerics who have been chosen due to political considerations related to allegiances and attitudes, and have nothing to do either with science of free elections. a few days ago a tweet was posted in the name of al-qaradawi which read: ‘yes, i have issued a fatwa for jihad in libya and syria but i did not do the same against israel because the jews are ‘people of the book’ and talked about tolerance. those who doubted the tweet visited his internet homepage and found a text that read, ‘i wish i could answer the first qibla call, and participate in the jihad for jerusalem and the beloved al-aqsa and have the honor to become a martyr in the blessed land’. i do not know what prevented al-qaradawi from jihad and martyrdom when he was forty years old. he was much younger when the zionists occupied alaqsa and much younger when the half of jerusalem was lost? why does he not send any of his sons or grandsons to earn the ‘honor of martyrdom’? if we refer to the youtube to look what position has been adopted by alqaradawi towards the jews and christians we find a great deal of contradictory video clips, some of which justify the spirit of the alleged tweet. in a sermon in qatar, he said: ‘we will sacrifice our necks for the sake of al-aqsa mosque. pointing to his neck, he said, these necks are ready to be cut for the sake of god. let’s protect this mosque and not allow the monkeys and … and the children of these animals to enter it, and desecrate it as they wish’. in another interview, he says: ‘i object to some people who say the jews are the offspring of monkeys and …, this is not true’ when allah turned some people into monkeys and …, it was not in shape, but, as proved in the sahih muslim, but stopped their offspring after that, and then they vanished. sahih muslim is a collection of hadith compiled by imam muslim. his collection is considered to be one of the most authentic collections of the sunnah of the prophet (pbuh). in an interview with al-jazeera, alqaradawi said: “we are all descendants of adam and eve from dust, and we are not at war with judaism. we see that the jews are closer to us than christians. the judaism, as a religion, is closer to islam than christianity’. and of course, this is completely contrary to the texts from the holy quran echoed al-qaradawi. al-maeda sura verse 82 says: ‘you will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the jews and those who associate others with allah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, ‘we are christians’. that is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant’. the problem in our societies is that those who issue conflicting statements and adopt similar positions are the ones who lead the masses. they are the most knowledgeable and experienced in emptying their pockets, and the most naïve among us, and most of them are deceived. these people cannot win any war, even a verbal one. e-mail:
