‘Reputation of charities has nose-dived’

there is no doubt that the donation to charities, especially those which are affi liated to religious political parties or managed by their members, is clearly declining because it has become evident that some of these funds are being manipulated over the past years, the dirty role played by those in charge of these funds who brainwash the youth and lure them to join absurd wars and send them to their deaths.

the minister of social affairs and labor also said that the amount of funds that these associations have collected from the good people has increased in the last three years from 12 million to 40 million dinars!

only those who are ignorant deny there has been any decline of support for the charity organizations. the reputation of these charity societies has nose-dived and so the donors have become aloof of their activities.

another reason is people no longer can donate freely because of the decline in the oil prices which have affected everyone’s pocket.
due to the above circums t a n c e s , it was but natural for the minister of social affairs and labor to dissolve a number of charity societies and cancel the licenses of others citing fi nancial irregularities and mismanagement

a statement issued by the minister shows money collected by some organizations in the name of charity over the past three years increased from 12 million to 40 million dinars.

at fi rst glance, it may seem the statement of the minister contradicts with what we have said above, but the truth is quite different.
in the past, these associations collected a lot, especially in cash and from various institutions, but they did not declare the amount but kept it secret. they deposited only a small sum of money in the bank accounts of these societies, therefore the ministry had almost no control on such funds.

however, according to tough instructions issued by minister hind al- subeeh, these associations were required to deposit all donations in banks and called upon the people not to donate in cash in any form, but only through k-net.

here, these associations have been implicated after their donations have gone directly to their accounts in banks and they cannot do as they please. so, we have seen how the accounts of these associations are now much larger in banks than before because they are no longer able to collect money in cash.

this explains what al-subeeh mentioned about the rise in donations from 12 million to 40 in favor of true charity work some of which was in possession of some members of the associations in the past, especially since donations in the past were much larger that gave the charities much which they have lost now.

we hope any of the concerned charities respond to this accusation, or we will take it as silence is evidence of the truth of what we have said.
