‘We’ll not forget you Karl’

karl bergner is the best who represented the federal republic of germany as an ambassador in kuwait.
in august 2016, three years ago, ambassador bergner took office as the representative of a superpower, the undisputed leader of europe. during this relatively short period, he established relations and friendships with the diplomatic corps by virtue of his work and this is a foregone conclusion.
he at the same time succeeded in entering the homes of many citizens through their hearts with his smile and good mannerism and beauty – his life partner who was always with him and was not less than him in loving kuwait and its people and others who live on its soil.
ambassador bergner joined the german foreign service in 1989. he made first experiences abroad in the political section of the german embassy in london (1991/1994) and as deputy chief of mission in panama (1994/1996). after a subsequent post in the personnel affairs department of the foreign office in bonn (1996/1999) he gained first leadership experiences as head of the embassy office in abuja, nigeria (1999/2002).
he could deepen these experiences as deputy head of the foreign service academy (2002/2006), where he was responsible for the recruitment and training of 40 trainee diplomats per year and also for the internship program of the foreign office with currently around 2,500 participants per year.
add to this the, foreign policy expertise he acquired as head of the political department of the german embassy in madrid (2006/2008) and as head of the southern european division of the foreign office during the start of the euro crisis (2008/2013). from 2013 till 2016 he was minister for communication and culture at the german embassy in washington before being appointed plenipotentiary ambassador to kuwait.
ambassador bergner was born in september 1960, and he has a wife and one son. he is very interested in culture, history, with an interest in archaeology and architecture.
ambassador berger quickly adapted to the kuwaiti atmosphere and enjoyed and responded to kuwaiti art and songs.
he was also keen to strengthen ties of friendship and cultural relations between kuwait and germany, and exerted outstanding effort to promote the civilization of his country and encouraging enrollment in its institutes and prestigious universities.
after a three-year service, ambassador bergner will move to another job, leaving behind beautiful friendships in kuwait, and i with many others will be in constant contact with him.
he and his wife are beloved personalities that are not easy to forget. on behalf of all the friends and fans of karl and his wife ola, i wish them happiness and success in their new lives and their future tasks.
