‘We, Egypt and Brotherhood’
the government has done well by extraditing muslim brotherhood terrorists who were recently arrested by kuwait upon a request of the egyptian interpol in line with court verdicts issued by the egyptian judiciary.
this option has made the government beat the pressure from brotherhood mps and their leaders in a historical event that was not only the most prominent but unprecedented when it described the organization as terrorist, a description that should not upset the ‘brothers’ of kuwait after they reiterated they had cut ties with the organization decades ago.
it is also funny that some described the organization as peaceful, as some wrote, forgetting the arsenal of weapons of ‘rabaa al-adawiya’, in addition to the hundreds of terrorist attacks they had carried out and still carry out from the time of mass demonstrations that demanded the ‘overthrow’ of the muslim brotherhood and election of sisi as president.
we wrote over thirty years ago warning of the activities of charities. we have mentioned in several press interviews since 1993 and even an hour ago and kept warning on various television channels in the region of the danger posed by institutions that have the right to collect billions while no one knows where and for whom the money goes.
thirty years later after the arrest of the terrorist muslim brotherhood network in kuwait, which sounded the alarm bell close in government ears showed that the arrested terrorists were an important part of the financial sources of muslim brotherhood activities in egypt.
as stated by the al-rai daily, abu bakr atef al-fayoumi is the most dangerous element in the cell. he called on the muslim brotherhood who fl ed the terrorist cases to come to kuwait because it is a ‘safe haven’ as he called it. this feeling of safety did not come from a vacuum but because of the government weakness.
it was not surprising, as stated in the al-rai, that before the official announcement of the arrest of members of the cell, some members in the national assembly – affiliates or supporters of the brotherhood, although everyone denies relationship with the organization of the muslim brotherhood – put ‘pressure’ on kuwaiti officials to release the eight members who are convicted by egypt, or at least allow them to go to any other rather than handing them over to egypt, but officials did not respond to these attempts of pressure and mediation. local repercussions will be there but will be met by a strong response from the government.
as mentioned by al-qabas, the government responded, albeit indirectly, to our calls. al-anba daily reported that the cabinet at its last meeting stressed the intensification of efforts between the interior ministry and the ministry of social affairs and labor and the public authority for manpower to control the process of donations and existing associations, and the need to put under the microscope the money spent for charity projects abroad, especially in egypt and some african countries, and stressed the need not to tolerate misdeeds or allow wanted person to freely roam the streets.
the sources have pointed out that the council of ministers has stressed on the need to review the transfers periodically and ensure compliance with the donations laws and regulations. the government has called for the need to increase the number of inspection teams to ensure the laws and regulations pertaining to donations are protected and honored.
we had warned in a previous article of the danger of the increasing numbers of egyptians in kuwait. although most of them are sincere and honest and there is no fear of them, but the large number of over 700,000 makes the infiltration of terrorists and wanted persons into their ranks easy. the steps of reform came late, but we say, it’s better late than never.
