Back to building homes chaos
it seems that my article on the upcoming social, logistical, and even moral catastrophe regarding the government’s issuance of 12,000 building permits for private housing, touched a sensitive nerve among many, especially those concerned with the fate of this country, so their written and verbal communications began early morning giving proposals and showing their concerns and their observations, so i find it necessary to return to writing on this subject.
the government administration complains about what looks like disintegration, after the issue of corruption has been rampant in all its joints and all of this cannot allow dealing seriously with the issuance of 12, building permits at once two months from now. it is necessary for the government to stop this disaster and arrange the situation before matters run out of control. it is not reasonable to place the responsibility for the existing situation on the citizen and hold him responsible for what will happen next.
the building materials market complains of a shortage of supply, and prices are high and will inevitably rise even more with 12,000 citizens flocking to buy them at once. it was not surprising that the supply company bought reinforcing bars at a value of 317 million dinars to provide them to the owners of these homes at subsidized prices.
there is also a frightening and actual shortage in the number of manpower, and the contractors of sanitary work, ironsmiths, and others, so how can one imagine building 12,000 villas without the availability of workers in the midst of the prevailing corona conditions and the desire to amend the demographics?
it is, therefore, necessary for the government to move quickly and postpone the issuance of building permits, and reconsider the current construction ratios that allowed the conversion of more than half of the new family model housing into residential apartments, with huge sizes that harm the public view and the suburbs of al-mutla’a and abdullah al-mubarak are not exceptions as it is expected that almost everyone will benefit from the maximum permissible building ratios, and this will result in a bad landscape of the residential area, and put great pressure on the infrastructure due to the expected population density as a result of unjust leasing.
there will also be a great shortage of agricultural areas and other parking lots. the middle sidewalk will be used to park the residents’ cars, and the general traffic department will be unable, as it is now, to cite violations against owners of these vehicles because it knows that this is the only available place for parking.
it is not too late, and the rational government has not lost all its powers, and the matter of stopping the issuance of building permits is not impossible, as it is like a vaccination that is in the interest of the owners of these homes before others, so will we act in a rational manner, even once, this year?
note: i am certain that a large percentage of those who will build their homes in the two new areas will say to the contractor: i only have 70,000 dinars (which is the amount of the government loan) and i want to build a house of three floors, so manage it and the reader should imagine what the level of construction will be.
