The silent & honest man

the tweeter s.a. wrote: “you were the right man in the right place throughout your tenure, which extended for more than a quarter of a century, in the most important sector in the country.
all words cannot fulfill your right, as you have performed your work with honesty and sincerity, and created an attractive and comfortable work environment for workers, and preserved state funds and the wealth of future generations.
tweeter ahmad al-jimaz wrote: “o abu ahmad, you are an example to follow, and your integrity is known, and it is supported by human competence.
we hope that the government will benefit from your rare experience on any other site.
activist ali dashti tweeted: “abu ahmad has finished his career as ceo of the most important state institutions, and he is a man who deserves appreciation for his good career, and we hope that he will not stop at this point in his life.”
and the tweeter, bu zamel” wrote: “today, the work of abu ahmad has ended, and it is sufficient for him to stand valiantly against the pipe tender and his efforts that resulted in saving millions for the state.”
these honest tweets, and others, are rarely read or heard today against many senior administrators, especially after their retirement. i felt it from the fact that i knew a number of those who wrote these tweets, and what i heard from others about the ethics of engineer hashem sayyed ahmad hashem, the former ceo of the kuwait petroleum corporation, who was referred to retirement at the end of last month after a service of nearly thirty years, during which he worked in various oil sectors.
hashem hashem, by virtue of his position, was responsible for large sectors and companies affiliated with the kuwait petroleum corporation, including the kuwait oil company, the national petroleum and petrochemicals company, the kuwait oil tankers, the kuwait foreign petroleum exploration, the kuwait international petroleum, and the kuwait gulf oil company and others, and he could easily have got rich from his overwhelming influence.
the minister of oil, as well as the entire government, was aware of the retirement date of engineer hashem hashem who held the most dangerous executive position in the country.
however, neither the minister nor the government thought of finding a replacement for him at an early date so that the new ceo could cooperate with him and transfer some of his experiences and secrets to him to benefit from before the full transfer of responsibilities, but it seems we have forgotten that we are in kuwait, where we treat the expiry of the term of office of the ceo for our only source of strength, as we treat the end of the assignment of a small librarian in a cooperative society, with respect, of course.
the man’s good reputation, honorable history, and extensive experience actually qualify him to assume the most important and most vital positions, and we praise the man without any prior knowledge of him. i never met him, but what i heard about him and his competence prompted me to write this article.
