Oh, the women of Kuwait!
recent statistics have shown that women outnumber men in kuwait, and their participation in various elections has increased, noting that a large percentage of their votes are still decided by men -- husbands, fathers, or brothers -- and their influence decreases with the advancement of women’s awareness as a result of education, employment, and financial and family status.
this increase in the number of women and the ease of controlling some of them prompted religious parties to pay attention to their electoral vote, and at the same time work to keep them away from the political arena and shut them out from the world reality insisting they are only a ‘number’.
for decades, these same parties have been the biggest obstacle to women’s access to their political rights, and these people will not hesitate to deprive them of these rights whenever they are able to do so, due to their strong belief that the woman’s place is her home to take care of the family and not the ballot box.
greed for woman’s vote was behind the 180-degree change in their position regarding granting her political rights and not because she deserved it but because a percentage of our women do not know this or prefer to turn a blind eye to it not even trying to realize how much effort these religious forces have made, over the course of sixty years, how much pressures they have exerted, and how many battles they fought, and got involved in dirty deals just to prevent women from getting their political rights.
after the failure of all their efforts to prevent them from obtaining their political rights, overnight they became women’s biggest supporters of their rights and what was forbidden became permissible, and this is the utmost opportunism that the brotherhood was famous for, and yet they are not ashamed of describing their opponents as morally fallen while they themselves are moral failures.
men and women belonging to these religious parties also forget that the liberal civil society which does not possess the money, the legal framework, the government’s support, nor even those who represent them in the parliament, is the one that fought for women’s rights, knowing that they would be the losers if women obtained their political rights, but their belief in human rights, which the extremist party does not recognize, was and still is stronger for them than cheap political gains.
oh, good kuwaiti women, stop this farce and this bad exploitation of your votes for these people do not stop such exploitation, neither dignity nor freedom, rather, they want to achieve fame and wealth through your votes, so do not enable them to do so.
the history of their leaders and their own issues is the best evidence of their inferior view of women.
they are not against the padel or yoga as sports, or against mixing as a social custom prevailing in the whole world, but they are against your obtaining freedom and dignity, they know very well that when it is achieved, that will be the beginning of them losing their influence on you, and losing your electoral votes.
what we are saying is not heresy, nor is it a special case for us. rather, something similar happened in almost all countries of the world.
the forces of backwardness were and will remain for a long time against women’s realization of their full rights as human beings no more no less than men.
