although representative obaid alwasmi stands on the side that i support and agree with his visions, this does not mean that he is immune from criticism, and that does not mean that he degrades his position as an outspoken representative, and the owner of a political and legal argument, because he really needs someone to point out his w e a k n e s s e s to him, so he avoids them if he managed to do that!
the major downfall of mp obaid al-wasmi was his “pledge”, while on a trip to america, to cooperate with the concerned authorities to recover our looted investments and wealth!
he knows very well that this is not one of his duties as a deputy, nor is it originally one of the tasks of the legislative or executive bodies, the entire statement was a “bad joke” and a pledge devoid of any meaning or purpose, as he was not assigned by any government agency to do so. he did not originally meet with any judicial, executive, or investment authority to see what information, files, and rulings they have related to the looting and theft of state funds!
he returned from his trip, and did not explain to us or to any party the results of his trip, and the success he achieved, and i do not think that he failed, because he did nothing in the first place ... to fail!
representative al-wasmi also recently held a press conference, in which he expressed his doubts about the results of the nullified 2022 national assembly elections, and demanded that some of those who were deputies in it swear by the validity of the number of votes they obtained in those elections and that it indeed represents the truth.
first: this is not their job, and they do not have the task of confirming its authenticity or not; secondly where was mp al-wasmi regarding this dangerous and important issue, for more than four months thirdly, what is the importance of his claim now, when the constitutional court has ruled that the parliament is invalid, and therefore the one who won it in the first place has no right to consider himself a “former representative”, and he, as a legal person, or so he assumes, knows that the capacity has been forfeited from him, and therefore he will not be able to do anything.
representative al-wasmi also called on the government to reveal the files of the conflict, or the dispute that was between sheikh ahmad al-fahd on the one hand, and sheikh nasser al-muhammad on the other, so that the people would know the truth, and we wonder here as well: why now when many years have passed since the issue? why did he not explain in his press conference the reason that prompted him to raise the issue?
finally, representative al-wasmi was a party to what was unfairly called the “national dialogue”, and he declared in more than one conference and meeting his happiness with what he had accomplished through that dialogue!
representative al-wasmi and those who participated in the dialogue were fully aware that it was not at any moment a national dialogue, but rather a meeting of three parties, to discuss a specific matter, and the “national dialogue” ended with the completion of what its parties were required to do, which is to issue a decree pardoning some. does what they have done amount to a “national dialogue”?
for years, my dear deputy, you were part of the system that wasted the future of almost an entire generation in a sterile debate, in which you and many parties participated, and you occupied us and the entire nation in secondary matters, political and personal disputes, and caused us to stop our progress, even to lag behind in every field, and you obstructed the issuance of laws, and you failed to monitor the government, and to achieve even one percent of what is required of you, as legislators and observers, to do, and yet none of you volunteered to apologize to the people for the failures.
this does not absolve the government of responsibility for all the terrible damage that befell us!
