Away from the ‘Ghabqas’

farea al-saqqaf is an extraordinary woman haunted by the concerns of her homeland and the issues of her nation. she is, without doubt, a woman most interested in women’s issues, culture, and art in kuwait.
farea gained fame through the various works that she did, whether personally or through loyac, and we previously wrote about her, and today she has become a milestone, as she achieved success in more than one arab country, but the wars and tragedies of our countries sometimes overpowered, but could not break her resolve, or push her to give up her role.
farea plays a social and cultural role that cannot be ignored, and she has played roles that even the state, with all its capabilities, was unable to fulfill.
she raised the name of her country in dozens of forums, through her work at “loyac”, and its humanitarian and cultural activities, whether in jordan, lebanon, yemen, kuwait, and other countries.
farea’a left government positions and devoted herself completely to voluntary work, which is both costly and tiring, and to her first cause (of women), due to her complete belief that no progress can be achieved in any field, society, or home without concern for raising the level of women.
out of her sense of social responsibility, and the issues of her country, mrs. loyac, farea al-saqqaf, carefully planned to dedicate some of the nights of ramadan, not only to support the palestinian cause, but also to keep us away from the banquets of extravagant eating, through the “ramadan ghabqat”, from the transfer of the period from april 3, that is, yesterday, and the following three nights, to hold an optimistic palestinian art festival that includes all kinds of arts that revive the palestinian heritage, and called it the “festival of return”, which the israeli occupation seeks to erase from memory, and remove all traces of it by various means, knowing that the elimination of any people takes place through the elimination of their identity and heritage.
the events will be of a distinctive artistic and cultural nature, and their proceeds will be allocated to support the palestinian institutions inside palestine, which seek to preserve the palestinian identity, the story, and the popular heritage, and help them confront the occupation, and the continuation of the challenge even through art.
the first day of the event held on monday was allocated for the embroidery artworks of artist namir qassem while the second day was allocated for the play titled (ataqi zayyak fenya ali) which means, o’ ali, where i can find someone like you by the palestinian artist raeda taha, which touches on an aspect that we have long neglected in our history, as our attention usually focuses on the tales of martyrs and showing their heroic stories, the play highlights the suffering and dilemma of the families of the martyrs, war prisoners, and fedayeen and highlighting their role, and almost no one pays attention to the sad aspect, which is the condition of families that they left behind!
on the last day, wednesday, the performance of the artist namir qassem will be repeated, with an interesting musical performance by the “laba” band, and its choir.
wednesday will be allocated for another showing of the artworks of namir qassem in addition to an amazing recital to be performed by the lapa band and the accompanying choir. because of the limited number of available seats, i recommend booking a ticket through the website eventat.com/browse/lapa-loyal.
if it were up to me, i would not have hesitated to appoint farea alsaqqaf as secretary-general of the national council for culture, arts, and letters, which is in deep slumber, with the government refusing to renew the tenure of the former secretary, the innovative, ali al-youha.
