the us congress has set up a commission to look into the fortunes of six churches after noticing the size of ecclesiastical donations are believed to have touched between $2 billion and $3 billion. one of the preachers reportedly tells his followers, who congregate at venues that look like sports arenas, ‘you have to donate to the church enough till you feel the pain. another says he does not want to meet the lord because he is bankrupt and therefore is looking forward for bigger donations. thanks to these huge donations. these pastors are just like our preachers, but with a difference. they live like movie stars and famous singers on the strength of the money they have collected, which allows them to live in unbelievable luxuries. all of them live in huge palaces, drive luxury cars and even have private jets. copeland, for example, has a fl eet of them, the fastest in the world with its own runway. copeland justifi es owning this fl eet saying god wants fast service and that’s what he does. on the other side, a group of wellknown muslim preachers appear in a funny video clip on youtube dancing the lyrics of a song or a poem composed especially for that occasion meant for the youth of islamic ummah (nation) and its elders, calling on them to join jihad and head for the battlefi eld. the lyrics go like this: get ready and off you go, march on, and don’t turn back to look behind get ready, march forward and follow the path of the heroes get ready and go, forget your wife, and parents, and children. your child has a god who protects him, the lord is transcendent, and the fair women with large beautiful eyes are eagerly waiting for you in the hereafter, so go forward. however, none of those who call for jihad follow the same road, rather they dance to the tune of religious songs, deceive the youth and push them to kill themselves and kill others. what do these young people, the nation and the families gain from futile battles? some justify the non involvement of senior preachers in jihad saying they are old and jihad is meant for those who are able bodied and young. this is a naïve justifi cation. the elderly have seen life and enjoyed it to the fullest. they should be the fi rst to deserve martyrdom and meet fair women with large beautiful eyes in heaven, not the youngsters who have not yet seen the world. to tie explosives around your waist and explode does not require age. it is as simple as just tying an explosives belt around your waist, and detonate it. then and only then we can say that it is fi rm conviction that it will ensure meeting fair women with large eyes in paradise. but they do not do this because they are unsure of what they are preaching. of course, none of these men left for jihad. they are only ready to dance on religious songs, and deceive the youth and push them to kill themselves and others. what did these young people, the nation and the families gain from futile battles? some justify the lack of participation of senior preachers in the work of jihad, as they are older, and it is better that the young go. this is really naïve justifi cation. the old people enjoyed life to the fullest and they are the fi rst who deserve martyrdom and meet fair women with large beautiful eyes in heaven, not the young people who have not lived their days yet. exploding oneself in a terrorist operation does not require a certain age, but only wear a belt and press the button, and the fi rm conviction that death in that way will ensure paradise and meeting fair women with large beautiful eyes, but they do not because they are not sure. we have tried their awakening for thirty years, or more. is it time to try a more sophisticated and rational awakening, less in madness and less insane?
