almost all of them failed to achieve good growth rates or to provide distinguished services to the people of the region, despite the fact that the entire lands and buildings of these associations, which are worth billions of dinars, are provided free of charge by the state.
nevertheless, supermarket companies invade these residential areas and open branches in them and provide better prices and service to the residents of the region, and this is perhaps the biggest evidence of the failure of its cooperative societies!
to remedy the situation of the ruined cooperatives, some people of conscience submitted serious demands to a number of ministers of social affairs and the council of ministers, demanding that the associations’ boards of directors stop interfering in the management of the central market and the rest of the activities, and hand them over to specialized local and international companies that are more capable and experienced in managing them, and devote themselves to monitoring their performance.
however, this proposal was not heard, for well-known reasons, despite the fact that a residential area implemented it by force, and its central market achieved unprecedented profits in the history of that area!
former senior officials also submitted a detailed proposal to the council of ministers, stipulating the issuance of decisions by the council that allow the general assembly of associations to meet and vote on converting the region’s association into a “joint stock company”, which rents land and buildings from the state, within easy and concessional terms, and this will allow the project to be an inevitable success, and later offered its shares in the parallel market, so that after a few years, the people of the region can easily buy and sell its shares and make huge profits from their contributions in the company, and this is not a kind of privatization, as the people are the ones who own the association, and they are the ones who will continue to own the new company.
