‘Choose justice or escape’

i n what is seen as the first of its kind, a group of lawyers have filed a lawsuit against the speaker of the national assembly marzouq al-ghanim, the prime minister sheikh jaber al-mubarak and justice minister fahd al-afasi.
the lawmakers are calling on the defendants to solve the issue of indictments and other judiciary issues by assigning representatives from the ministry of justice.
they pointed the issue is very serious since the president of the court has confirmed about the existence of more than 10,000 undeclared claims and a thousand rulings of ceasing cases and consider them as null and void.
the lawyers, in their case papers said, that the courts cancel the undeclared claims and nullify many of them as a result of which many litigants lose their rights, a matter which needs to be quickly resolved by the ministry of justice, especially since the number of its representatives is insufficient, adding the ministry has been unable to solve many hindrances it has been suffering from many years.
the lawyers explained the danger of this problem is that it affects everyone. many laws require the declaration of certain statements on specific dates, otherwise, no one will have the right to litigate, and thus lose the right to claim their rights for reasons that are out of their hands and the full responsibility lies with the ministry.
kuwait, the country of light, pride and dignity, the kuwait of love, kuwait of national songs as we always claim, the country that is unique as we always tell the world but remains silent when tens of thousands of kuwaitis and residents lose their rights just because of a ridiculous unacceptable reason.
it is clear that for the past 20 to 30 years all of us have been in a bad state facing a problem which worsens because of the administrators at the ministry of justice, ministers and undersecretaries without exception.
it is also clear that the issue is very serious. there are thousands of court rulings subject to cancellation and tens of thousands of indictments which need to be delivered immediately. therefore, this clear injustice cannot and must not be accepted by every living conscience.
since mp safa’a al-hashem is conscientious, and we have no doubt about this, and because she is more concerned with the subject of amending the demographic structure, calling the expatriates are responsible for all our problems, and because she is our representative in the national assembly, we put this problem before her and ask her personally to activate her constitutional tools and question or hold the minister of justice accountable, and find a quick solution to this problem.
here, the minister of justice has two choices: either to rely on the national manpower to perform this urgent task or employ new expatriate workers to do it, either by directly signing a contract with them or through courier service.
since we have tens of thousands of unemployed kuwaitis because of their laziness or other reasons, it is important to resort to them first, and to convince them to give up rejecting this kind of national and honorable job, but what if they are not enough in number for this job? here mp safa’a al-hashem has two options:
either to back down on her earlier position concerning the expatriate labor and turn a blind eye to their immediate use by the ministry of justice to do this important and urgent task or accept the current situation and contribute to what is happening as a result of which thousands of kuwaitis will suffer.
madam, choose whatever you want — either justice or escape from it.
