shakespeare says: ‘take good care of your reputation; it will live longer than you’.
a person whom i have never met or heard his voice sent me a voice message on whatsapp at 4:51 on sept 9, and he demanded that taxes be imposed on the remittances of expatriates and the same to be spent on the pension of the retirees.
i describe the message, whose sender i don’t know, as ignorant talk and the subject of taxes is integrated and not at the discretion of a particular entity. it became apparent that my comment angered the sender because he has flooded me with false accusations.
the matter involved me at this point and for some reason, unknown to me, i have saved the text of the messages we exchanged.
two days later, i was surprised that the same person sent a voice message to a large group. i also received which made a mention of my name clearly as a trader and a writer in al-qabas newspaper in addition to other issues that tarnished my reputation.
i also received dozens of messages from readers and friends wondering about the identity of the voice message and the reason for his accusations. the voice message included the following libeling issues: the al-qabas writer ahmad al-sarraf is a trader in foodstuffs and possesses plots of land and warehouses given to him by the government, and he always uses his column in the newspaper to tarnish the image of the government for not giving him land.
he also claimed that i described him as ignorant and fabricated many other stories about what i said to him when i contacted him (and this, of course, is not true). he also described me as a fraudster, i buy and sell, i am a foodstuffs trader and i sell at high prices, and i am against the imposition of taxes.
he also accused me of insulting him, said i am not patriotic towards my country and that i am selfish. he said i am a trader and make a lot of profit, much of it i hide he said, and called me the vampire of kuwait. he said i only care about my interests and said my homeland is the dinar and that i will pay the price for what i am doing sooner than later. he said the theft of this country cannot continue indefinitely, and other serious issues that have harmed me personally.
first, i’ve never talked to this person in my life, until this moment, and the archive of telecommunications companies can prove this. secondly, there has been no relationship between me and this person, and what i called ‘ignorant talk’ has nothing to do with his person, i have never met him or talked to him, but the description was what was in the voice message, and i have proof.
thirdly, i do not trade in foodstuffs. i have never in all my life asked the government for commercial interests or any warehouses or industrial plots, agricultural land or livestock pens. i have not requested such things from the government or any other body. i have never received for myself or my business interests one meter of the state property for free. anyone who has evidence to the contrary must submit it to any party or send it to the editor-in-chief of al-qabas to expose my claims.
four, i have the right to defend my reputation and therefore i will sue this person who has knowingly offended me and harmed my reputation which to this day i have protected it and kept myself away from all that is suspicious and turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to accusations that i exploit my column in the newspaper to amass wealth. this is totally unacceptable.
this person has no right to question my patriotism, and to describe me as a vampire and that i do not care for the homeland but i only care about the dinar and reject the imposition of taxes. i can assert that the archive of the alqabas daily can pour cold water on such accusations.
five, some of my brothers asked me not to write an article on the subject but file a lawsuit. i would like to show them the court verdict, which i will do justice to me. however, i want to clarify my position through this article and then allow justice to take its course.
